Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

Recommend Product: NO

I agree, I'm waiting for a full trial too. They could make one that only gives you 3 tries, but I think their spyware gets in the way of that. This is a new thing that software makers are using. It keeps an open phone line home. They also know more about your computer then you think. I bought Speed download and loaded it on my backup computer too. It read that there is a computer using that already, it even gave the names of both my computers. I trashed that application fast. Thanks for the heads up on this application. I may not buy it after all. Just because you buy their product doesn't give them full run of your computer. I smell a law suit coming.

So piracy is OK in your book? - Alastair_Houghton_882

Sorry Duckhue, but we don't see why people should be able to steal our software with impunity. It takes a lot of time and effort to create a product like iDefrag, and we work hard to support our paying customers. We don't see why freeloaders should benefit from our hard work, and we don't think it is unreasonable for our product's copy protection mechanisms to attempt to inform us if people are trying to use pirated keys with the product.

If this SW works and I can verify that I would buy iy now! I can't do that!
I don't mind paying for a good piece of SW. Again I have to be able to try it! Why in the world would I buy without it working for me.

Then you'll have to wait for us to release a demo version, rather than trying to run pirated copies of it. We've already said that we will be doing a demo version, but you'll have to be patient.

Little Snitch - Eupfhoria

If you are paranoid about your software "phoning home" get a little application called little snitch. It will tell you when an app tries to connect to a server and allow you to block it if you wish. Developer: I am not telling him this as a means to aid piracy, but a means to allay fears that may be unfounded.

Little Snitch - aiwetir

won't work because this app hijacks your apple mail application and transmits your personal data to the developer. mail goes out on port 25 to your smtp server, not directly to coriolis.
the fact that it uses another application to transmit your personal data is _hacking_ and i am thinking is illegal.

please delete my personal information from your database, i have no use/need/desire for your application or to do any further business with you.

we should not tolerate this kind of thing in the mac community. leave the spyware for the windows users please.

Hopefully the demo will be out soon. I would like to give this a go! Also how long will the upgrades continue to be free?

oh and one more thing, the gui looked really cool and i was really hoping for another good defrag app. don't really like any of the other choices.

IF this comes out in demo and stops with the SPYWARE issue, i would MAYBE consider buying it as it seems pretty cool.

in the mean time, i just can't be a party to this kind of thing in the mac community, really disappointing :-(
