As a (former) game developer, I can appreciate everything that has gone into this game (including it's production history!) However, there are still some really rough edges that keep this game from shining. The documentation, especially concerning the tutorials, needs another revision (as well as double-checking the OS X version!) For example, you can't "double click" on the navigation toolbar button (to set zone rules), you just get a "no course set" dialog. (p.s. ToolTips would be aa really handy addition!) You don't "double click in the upper-left-hand corner" to close a window. The tutorials sometimes end up out of sequence - which makes understanding this complex game a real b*tch. And in the fourth (weapons) tutorial, I was instantly killed even with the time compression set to the lowest level (one second). After reloading the scenario, the game crashed and I wasn't really feeling compelled enough to relaunch it. I'll keep downloading and trying this simulation out as more revs. come out, but I can't really see myself really *ahem* immersing myself in this game as it currently stands.

I don't know why as to the problem your experiencing is being caused by, but however, Tutorials and that sort of stuff in the original demo or if you brought it like i did, and the original scens in this game as downloaded, aren't exactly the best or realistic as it should be, so If you want a better gaming experience with this is ya gonna have to go to this website, harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios/ and download the most up to date data Base that is the engine behind everything, ships platforms airbase and so on, and also download the scen from that website and so on, you can also go to this site http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/original_cd_scenarios/index.html and get the rebuilt scens from the original ones and play them with the newer Data Base, also with the original Data Base, you cannot play the Scens that came with the game when ya first got it, otherwise if you do, its not at all gonna be good with the new Data Base, from harpoonHQ Only play the scens from HarpoonHQ when doing so, so if you want to back up the original DB go right ahead, but its really not that good, that is if you want Accurate type of Sim for this game, and I have played this game ever since Harpoon 2 and well I must say this game is the best now even more so now with the DB from HarpoonHQ, and with the ECM fix that came out on the update to harpoon 3 with the update on 3.6.2, and now 3.6.3 is much more better.... So if you get null problems and so on, you have to download the entire demo at http://www.harpoon3.com not just the update itself.. Hope this helps to everyone who comes accross it...Reply to This
