I've got what seems to be a reliable workaround for the crash when saving. After the save has completed, let the cursor fade out completely before moving it. Only then can you mouse over the buttons in the book mode. This fix works for me 100% of the time.

I've got another crash when viewing a large crystal in Spire. Solution is the same - let the cursor fade out completely before moving it.
