ORACLE 10 G and OSX Serrver

Feedback Type:  Commentary

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

All of the introductory material just mentions OSX10.3.6 but the installation instructions state the minimum is OS X Server 10.3.6.

Is there any way to work with ORACLE 10g with a standard OS X system or do I need to acquire and install a Server operating system.

ORACLE 10 G and OSX Serrver - damorgan

OSX Server is required to be supported.

A push is underweigh to make a single-user version of OSX Server available for use with Oracle. If you are interested contact your Apple Account Executive and ask them to pass it up the chain-of-command.

ORACLE 10 G and OSX Serrver - pwforaker

According to Oracle on Mac, it is possible to install Oracle 10g on Tiger without OSX Server.

It looks to be a non-trivial installation, with a clean two-volume partition. The 120-page Oracle installation manual indicates that neither Oracle nor Apple is "supporting" this installation, but apparently it can be done. And, it's free for personal use.
