Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

but is Oracle 10 times better than Sybase or 20 times better than OpenBase which it would have to be to justify it's price? I don't think so.

True, it is a good development for Mac OS X, - threegee

The thought of doing large-scale data warehousing in Openbase makes me laugh.

That may be true, but the thought of doing anything in the aging, unnecessarily complicated, and ridiculously expensive Oracle, for which an expensive database administrator is necessary makes me cry.

Sybase, though, is excellent at data warehousing and can do almost anything Oracle can do at a fraction of the price and complexity. It's a much better value in my opinion.

Although I do admit that Oracle is still King of the Database Hill and there are some things that it can do that other databases can't.

Like anything else, it just depends on your needs and your resources. But it certainly is nice to have the option of using it on OS X for those who need its power!
