Used Product For: Less than a month

I have spent the last few hours trying to work out why, since upgrading to 10.3.7 yesterday, Mail and iChat now take a tedious 30-40 secs to open. I am now tempted to use software restore as this problem goes away when I turn off my airport. Can anyone explain why this is happening?

I use a PowerBook 15" 1.5GHz
