Um, isn't this a weaker or more limited play on Konfabulator? konfabulator has HUNDREDS of widgets for just about anything.

And then... there's Tiger's "Dashboard" on the horizon...

Wheel reinvented - Anubis IV

Konfabulator is renowned for having an exceptionally large footprint in memory and it can tend to eat up quite a bit of processing power as well. While I haven't used this software, maybe it is much less processor intensive? That alone might be reason for some people to use it. As for Dashboard...it's not out yet.
