what a dumb peace of gear..

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

first go with the demo on a brand new G5 1.8. It's awefully slow! DVDshrink on my crap 1ghz Pentium III takes 40 minutes to rip the main movie with about 80% compression. Same settings on DVDremaster, it takes over 4 hours! On a state of the art CPU!! DVDshrink is based on GNU tools and thus free. DVDremaster is based on GNU tools and COSTS $$$! I don't want to find out what the license restrictions are, but I can imagine it being nothing but hassles when upgrading the Mac, re-installing the OS etc. These guys rip off the GNU community to make a buck, they don't deserve to be in business!

Mr. Vonkas,

I suspect you were using the more complex compression engine. I can do an almost 7 gig DVD in under an hour in the least complex mode. I find that quality acceptable.

PS. You sound like an adolescent ranting. You may not be, but I hope that's what it is.
