While I am not given to outbursts, the issue of altering permissions is inexcusable. Here is a text of an e-mail I sent to the Limewire folks

I have been a paid limewire customer for some time. I am very perturbed that the latest Limewire installers alter the permissions on the root drive and on the applications folder to Read Only (I am logged in as an administrator) under OS X. Frankly, this qualifies as BONEHEADED. The fact that this has been reported by several people already (don't you people read?) and that the installer STILL hasn't been fixed qualifies the developers for a free upgrade to DUMBASS.
You need to either learn how to make an installer or get out the business. There is no excuse for this.

Alters permissions indeed - Jeff Mincey
You overstate the case here. It could just be a simple bug. Bugs happen. And even allowing for this, I would agree it's a pretty bad bug which needs immediate attention -- but I wouldn't say it's inexcusable unless for some reason it is INTENTIONAL on the developers' part. And in THAT event, I would agree with you.Reply to This
