This appears to be a great application, with some gorgeous fonts, and a clean and efficient user interface.
However, there is one problem with it and that is that the first time I started it up on my 2*2GHz G5, it took a very long time to start up. Had I not given it a gooooood chance to start then I would have thought that it had hung and killed it. Subsequent startups have been quick so I presume there is some initialisation/caching done the first time. I would suggest that the application displays its interface as soon as possible (e.g. "empty" and mostly disabled) otherwise many users are likely to think that this application doesn't work, which is a shame because this really is a wonderful application for Tolkien fans. Love it!!!
Also, one of the web links in the Help files is out of date (under What are modes? > Other modes from the Help home page).
Summary: This is a great application right once you get past the first run.

Oh, and thanks for the dead link report. The new address of that page is http://w1.860.comhem.se/~u86023928/at/teng_modes.htm. This will be fixed in the next version.Sunday, November 28 2004 @ 09:22 AM PST

I'm sorry, I should have put a progress bar during the indexing... I mentioned in the release notes that the first launch would be slow. I thought that people read release notes before downloading anything :-)Reply to This
