ok, so those programs will compress the video ts folder and all contents to fit on one cd? can i play the dvd off of the compressed files or would i have to move it back to the hd to watch? is there any way to have it not be a video ts folder with 22 files, can i turn that into mpg or avi? anything that would just be one file?

The programs like DVD2OneX and Popcorn compress the VIDEO_TS folder, so that you can fit it on single-layered DVD-R media. They will play like regular DVDs if you burn them to DVD-R, though the video quality will be reduced (with varying acceptability, from indistinguishable to unwatchable, though it's usually fine). If you want to make a single file output for playback on computers, I'd suggest using Handbrake instead of MTR.
