As far as i was aware jEdit is an open-source GPL-licensed editor available from jedit.org

So what's this $28 thing called Jedit? Is someone charging for a GPL-licensed editor that's available elsewhere for free, or is it a completely different thing that's rather confusingly using the name "Jedit"?

It's a completely different editor than the gnu editor, despite the identical (except for capitalization) name.
