I have tried many of these apps as I have huge media and book collections. However, the whole point of having a database it to pull up certain subsets of data quickly "all cds by Coltrane", "a prog rock cds", "all albums from 1954", etc. While it seems that a lot of work and care went into the interface, nothing about the interface helps you use the programs. In other "grid" layout programs, the interface allows you to bring up these subsets with one click on a name or column. In this program it seems that an explicit search is required. I don't understand the bookshelf view... that is the least useful way to find something, if you have more than about 10 of anything. The idea of isight scanning is nice, but other programs use barcode readers which do the same thing cheaply. I would like to see more design like Konfabulator where the interface actualy facilitates the use of the program instead of being something parallel to the program.

If I only have a few items, I don't need a database. If I have many, I need more features and flexibility.

Designed for aesthetics, not utility... - Slinkie

Library supports scanning by Bar Code scanners too. I've priced a bunch, and with the exception of the free Radio Shack CueCat that you can't get any more, the iSight option (and the barcode scanner they sell in the Licensor) are actually pretty decent, fiscally speaking.
