Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 1-6 months

...why spend twenty bucks for something when there are several things already built into the OS for copying, including ASR & Disk Utility. Maybe someone can iluminate this issue for me? Are you using it? If so why? I have ditto, cpmac, cp, rsync, psync...oh yeah the free one "Carbon Copy Cloner". Please don't tell me it's left to an interface. (gui) What could it possible be except that?

Come on guys n' gals, I would love to hear some opinions. What are your thoughts?

Thanks!

I had many issues with Carbon Copy Cloner where for whatever reason, it didn't get all the files or I could not boot off the clone. Odd. This happenen several times. Never an issue with SD.What I like about SD is it's very fast. It only updaters changed files. What method of backing up for free with the Mac does that? I also like the ability to filter some files I don't want backed up due to space (like maybe my iTunes library). SD has a useful option to back up then boot from that back up so you can format and reinstall the clone in a way to deal with disk frag. Its not something I do often (I did it once) bit SD makes this very easy to do. For the features and simplicity plus the good looks, it's well worth $20 IMHO.

CCC, frankly, sucks. It botches permissions, and bootable clones are hardly ever clones, let alone boot.
Disk Utility can not do incremental updates - which is important when you are making "images" of Macs to clone for production or rollout.
The terminal is in no way a good way for anyone but 'NIX experts to use this for - it's just not going to cut it.
$20 for this software is a HUGE bargain. How ab out YOU use it and see for yourself - you sound like my kids - always wanting mommy and daddy to do your work for you...
I've been using and supporting Macs for 20 years, and this is the best ever utility for this purpose - and I used to use Retrospect every night to backup ~500 Macs at a large aerospace company, as well as smaller setups.
