OnyX cause of kernel panics?

Feedback Type:  Troubleshooting Report

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 1-6 months

This thread <http://macgurus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19065> discusses a change to the kernel which OnyX makes, but other utilities do not and expresses a concern about it being the cause of kernel panics/crashes.

Can anyone shed any light on this? (I have quit using OnyX at the present time.)

OnyX cause of kernel panics? - threegee

the Pax file and bom file in the distro archive have no kext, the string 'kext' doesn't show up anywhere, running 'strings' on the binary doesn't show anything interesting.

If it does something to a kext as the poster implies, it's extremely well hidden.

(I should note that it *does* remove kext caches and stuff, but that's pretty obvious, and it's seemingly handled by the Onyx.scpt in the app package.)
