Who needs Acrobat's PDF baloney in the Microsoft Suite, anyway? Just "Save to PDF" and use the "Big Guns" for other situations.

In the meantime, here's how to solve this issue:

Do a Find for "PDFMaker". You'll discover three such items in three different Microsoft "Startup Folders": Word, Excel, PowerPoint. These files are called PDFMaker.dot, PDFMaker.xla and PDFMaker.ppa.

Open each folder individually and drag the respective PDFMaker file out. Then make a folder within the chosen "Startup Folder" and give it exactly the same name as the file you drug out.

Example: In the Word "Startup Folder," drag out "PDFMaker.dot" and make a folder therein with the same name.

Next time you open Acrobat, you might get a message about its wanting to "fix" things. Say "No," and then "Don't Ever Ask Me Again, Dammit."

And there it is.

Fixing PDF Issues - seanessy

This has been bugging me for a while; I had to close that PDF toolbar everytime I opened an Office .app. Thanks for posting that info!

I still use Office X; it does everything I need it to, and I'm concerned that Office 11 would run like a slug on my iBook G3 800.

Maybe I'll upgrade once I have a faster laptop.
