This gem has worked great. And to answer a question No, you do not need to run DVD Player first. If you are having problems with players reading the discafter it's been backedup I'd check your media, as most of my players do not seem to like DVD-R's, but work flawlessly with DVD+R's. This program has saved me so much just in one movie that my son loves, without this I would have had to buy his movie 4 or 5 times by now, but with this I just make a new one everytime he scratches the disc badly.

Since Apple thinks we're too dumb to differentiate media, they've disabled DVD+R in firmware.

Try Ritek/RiData brand DVD-R media. Ritek is a manufacturer, not a distributor, and their quality is consistently excellent, with the best compatibility of all the media I've tried. It's only available through online retailers, however. Oh, and BTW, DVD+R is not disabled on recent Apple drives...
