How is it that this is called "Shareware"?

Does a $150 boxed buy-before-you-try application qualify to be "shareware"?

Shareware? - storyleader

This may not be useful (it's gives you nothing you'd need for creating legitimate sites), but it DOES qualify as shareware. When I downloaded it from the developer's site, I got a limited-feature trial version, with a clear indication of which features would be enabled on a registered version.
