I spent 10 minutes of my cellphone long distance talking to a very nice 'tech support' woman. As soon as I identified myself as an owner of the Mac version of the program she took my information and promised delivery of a new CD within 7-10 days at no cost other than the phone call. Since I got the CD in a package deal from Stomper I had no serial number and wasn't asked to provide any proof of ownership which seemed interesting. Her guess is Stomper is sending an updater but if that's the case it would be cheaper to put it online, right?
She didn't have a clue why we had to call for the update and admitted she'd taken a large number of calls in the last several days as the information about the update has become known. She also had no idea if the company is getting developer information from Apple so Tiger won't break this new version and/or take nearly a year to release a new Tiger compatible update.
And finally, she passed off my unhappiness over the long wait by pointing out the company had released a work-around to let us use the old version. ie we could run it in Classic. I told her I considered that work-around pretty weak but even worse, in all the times I'd contacted technical support this was the first I'd heard of the work around.
So, in a week or two I'll have ClickNDesign running again but no idea how long I'll be able to continue using it and the distince feeling the company doesn't consider Mac owners at all important to their business. As I told her, we now have several viable alternatives and my money will go to those who prove they want my business. So far Stomper hasn't done that.
