Despite the clear claims of the product developer, MP3 Rage DOES NOT normalize MP3 volume! By the way, "normalize" is to make a bunch of MP3's from various sources all playback at the same volume level.
It's almost like one of those turn of the century medical devices with wild claims ("Cures cancer, tiredness, gout and woman's troubles!"). You strap it to your arm, all the lights blink, the buzzer sounds and...nothing happens!
In the same manner, MP3 Rage takes your MP3s through a beautiful interface and excitedly tells you that "Normalization is Complete!" The problem is nothing has changed.
Use "MP3 Gain" for normalization - it actually works!

Does Not Normalize Volume! - NickyCee
I may not understand the technical aspects of volume normalization or even the right terms. I do, on the other hand, clearly understand the promise given by MP3 Rage:"This tool analyzes the sound data of all MP3 files in the source folder and adjusts the volume of each file so they all play at a similar sound level."
That is very clear to me and does not speak of peaks or other technical jargon. Especially Note: "...so they all play at a similar sound level." The MP3s _do not_ play at a similar sound level after being processed. Matter of fact, they sound the exact same coming out of my iPod!
Maybe the MP3 programmers should revise their description so people like me who don't want to keep adjusting ther iPod volume will understand what it does and does not do.

However, if you're one on those people (like me) that have mp3s from 500 different sources, and want them to play at relatively the same volume. He is correct in recommending Mp3 Gain over this. It analyzes how loud a files "sounds" rather than just where the peak is. And, adjusts accordingly.http://homepage.mac.com/beryrinaldo/AudioTron/MacMP3Gain/
We all clear on this, now? Good.

I would suggest you do further research regarding "Normalization" in audio applications, as you're clearly misinformed regarding the basic principals and utilization theories behind the process. After you better inform yourself, feel free to edit/delete your post.Reply to This
