Noted is vendor comment that 10.3 prebinding has been patched to avoid unnecessary disk action. Is the a patch documented by Apple (wasn't aware of it and can't find it in the dev KB) or is this a system patch devised by this or other developer? I do recall that the "first launch" prebinding of apps differs from 10.2 in 10.3.

Prebinding in 10.3 - APGiuliano

It is in the coding of the software to avoid or rather negate the automatic pre-bindng. Launch FireFox the first time and listen to the hard drive chatter! Yeesh...

Prebinding in 10.3 - joshmoz

It is a patch that we wrote to do prebinding since we normally have issues in that area... I doesn't work that well so we disabled it. Firefox still uses it.
