Would someone please tell me why you'd WANT to create a RAM disk in Mac OS X? Doesn't OS X have it's own AUTOMATIC VM?

WHY?!? - WillThomasHauge
VM uses hard drive as RAM, RAM Disk uses RAM as a disk drive. They serve different purposes. VM is managed by the OS, where as the size of the RAM Disk is managed by the user.Thursday, August 26 2004 @ 06:40 PM PDT
BECAUSE - diarbyrag
Because a ram disc is better than virtual memorywrites nothing to your hard disc and vanishes into the ether when you erase it
dont know why more apps dont use it
you do not need to keep track of every move you make
