The opening screen of the 2005 CD shows a POF titled "using 2003 portfolio accounts" that when opened gives "imporant information if you tracked investments in Quicken 2003: This instructs you to create a capital gains report in 2003 and print it. This information may not transfer automatically to your new 2005 account. Every time I tried to create this report as per their instructions, i received "internal error message 701". Quicken knows of no problem or what error 701 means. If you are successfull in creating the report and do install 2005, you must use the report to check to see if all transactions were transfered correctly. If there are problems you must take five steps to enter the correct information TWICE. Quicken could not help me create a report and told me to uninstall 2003 and then intall 2005, in spite of their printed directions. I spent hours with Intuit and on my own and was finally told to return the disk for a full reflund. I did create a work around on my own. You can create a capital gains report and print it as long as it is for about two years, or no longer than five pages long. Took me lots of time and ended up with a report 25 pages long with a total of over 1450 items. I then wondered if it was worth the effort to check that many items with the possibility of correcting them all in a mear five steps, twice.
I was really turned off by Quicken customer service and Tech service. They were not helpfull at all, and knew less than I did. However, I still do not know of another product that will help me as well as Quicken has in the past, managing my finances. Lately the new versions seem to be very expensive updates, not worh the money, not always an improvement. At this point I suggest sticking with Quicken 2003.

Problems tracking investments 2005 - R100M
I have the same Error 701, and Tech support does not seem to have any idea how to fix it. It is a problem that occurs with creating certain reports. When it occurs the program quits. Quicken should figure this one out. It is not specific to this version, it occured in prior versions. [I did find a note about a 701 error for the PC version, but does not seem applicable to the Mac]Reply to This
