...but for $0 AP Grapher does the same thing only without a sound alert. You know the signal is wavering from the menu bar graph, then can monitor the actual strenghth by opening up the Grapher window. It has served me very well in a WiFi challenged house.

However, i think AP Grapher uses much more cpu. Also if you only wanted to look at the menu bar then apples menubar status item is enough.
