We are still working on documentation but Eridius is correct... AlphaCapture injects a small patch into the Finder to enable it to hide and show the Finder icons during a capture. We apologize that deleting AlphaCapture caused the Finder to crash and we'll definitely fix that in the next day or so by dynamically loading and unloading the patch code.
Until we release a fix, you may uninstall AlphaCapture by doing the following:
1) Launch the System Preferences App and click on AlphaCapture.
2) Uncheck the "Enable AlphaCapture" to disable AlphaCapture.
3) Log out and back in or restart if you prefer.
4) Either run the AlphaCapture Installer and choose "Uninstall" or drag the preference pane from /Library/PreferencePanes/AlphaCapture.prefPane (or ~/Library/PreferencePanes/AlphaCapture.prefPane depending on whether you installed it for all users or just the current user respectively) to the trash.
5) Empty the trash.
Also, as far as it crashing when it autolaunched we haven't seen that happen, so thanks for the bug report. We appreciate you patience and understanding considering that our beta version still has a few kinks to be worked out!
For anyone that is so inclined: please report bugs to support@balance-software.com. We will sincerely appreciate it!
