Product Platform: MacOS,MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: YES

For Macintosh Carbon development, FutureBASIC cannot be beaten. For one thing, it has been around for as long as the Mac and has been used to develop all types of applications. FutureBASIC will take you from a novice programmer, through intermediate and into expert level Macintosh programming without you ever feeling like you've outgrown the product. It's programming structure is easy to understand and implement, and yet it provides power that other Mac BASIC IDE's cannot obtain. FutureBASIC truly provides the power of C with the ease of BASIC.

I've used FutureBASIC for over 12 years. Even though I've learned a number of other programming and scripting languages and environments, FB is the only one I stick with. Why? Because it has the power to create any type of app I want, but remains very fun and enjoyable to use.

If you are intereseted in programming the Mac, you won't find a better development environment available.

One other thing -- check out Bernies TWM (The Window Maker) for a great CASE (Computer Aided Software Engineering) tool for creating your GUI. This app, written in FB, allows you to construct your GUI, and then generates clean, fast FB code for you automatically. it's a great companion to FB -- one you'll not want to be without.
