Daemon fails...

Used Product For: Less than a month
I could never get the UI to connect to the daemon...kept telling me that the daemon has failed. This is after a restart as suggested. Any ideas? I really would like to get this client to work, considering the Java alternative is more difficult to configure and doesn't seem to work.
System Info:PowerBook Pismo upgraded to a 500Mhz G4 by PowerLogix. 1GIG RAM and 48GIG HD running 10.3.4.
