This program has saved me time and hassel - thanks!

It would be great if I could trackplug-ins too. (SuperBlade Pro [Flaming Pear] for Photoshop, etc.) VT allows me to select the plug-in in the "Add" menu but does not actually track it.

Thanks

Plug-in Support - Ladd

Mark,

We've looked into supporting plugins, but many of them are rather hard to track. In Flaming Pear's case, there are some versioning issues that prevent us from doing a good job of figuring out what you've installed.

I've sent the developer a note about this issue, but haven't heard back yet.

Hopefully we'll manage to resolve this eventually.

Interesting comment by developer. Thanks. I've wondered about this too, also for Photoshop (and Illustrator) plug-ins. Ditto the ones installed (often hit and miss) in GraphicConverter. While the plug-ins in some cases are applications, presumably could/would be made to find them in plug-ins folders, others are not, the example cited being a good one.

In many ways the real forte of your app is its ability to accurately detect versions. In some cases this can be a problem as developers, including Apple, do such a sloppy job of indicating version. (Why should I have to launch an app to get an accurate idea of what version, build, et al it is?)

Rangol,

Sloppy versioning is indeed a huge problem for us. We tend to work with developers directly to try to convince them to keep their numbers in sync. Generally, developers are responsive to this, although some prefer not to go to the trouble.

In the future, we may try to publish some materials on versioning, and make more of a "public education" push to help explain to developers why consistent versioning is good for them, good for their users, and good for us.

I would also like to encourage our users to contact developers directly when they notice versioning problems with specific applications. Often, the developer has just forgotten to update something.
