Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 1-6 months

Recommend Product: YES

This product worked great with Filemaker 6.0. Unfortunately, just after Brushfire 2.0 was released, Filemaker came out with a new version (7.0) which adopted a radically different file structure. When I last checked, Brushfire 2 did not support Filemaker 7.0. Maybe, the developeer has since rectified this issue--but I doubt it, as their web site does not suggest that FM7 even exists. Therefore, if you are using FM 7 (or if you plan to), I would not recommend this product until the developer commits to supporting FM7. That said, the quality of the product was quite good with FM6, so I would not hesitate to give it a try. If I am wrong about FM7 support, I trust someone will correct me.

Will it work with Filemaker 7.0? - I think not. - Russell_Kohn_584

Brushfire 2.1 is an ideal tool to help clean-up projects prior to
migration. Brushfire HTML reports are an efficient way to reference project
details during any rewriting that is necessary. For example, it is usually
faster to refer to the Brushfire report to discover a calculation or
relationship nuance than to find the field or relation in a different FMP file,
esp when you are already in the FMP6 of FMP7 design environment.

Brushfire 2.1 is also a great tool for helping to gauge the type of migration
that might be appropriate: conversion, re-write etc. We have several
customers reporting they are using Brushfire 2.1 reports to help estimate
and justify the labor involved in migration work.

And for projects that might remain for awhile in the FMP6 environment,
Brushfire 2.1 can help speed support of older systems while new systems
are being built.
