I'd love to find sommething that implements OS9 labels on OSX, but this is not it. It MIMICS the OS9 version by creating a custom icon. It does not "label" the file. Perhaps it is just me, but a large part of the value of labelling is the ability to search or flag files - for example back up all files except those labelled green. This app only does half the job. I'm sure this is fine for some, I really wish Apple would address the issue - their current implementation is enough to make you vomit.
Colour Labels does otherwise work as advertised, at least for me.

Does not create label metadata - Wm. Cerniuk
Labels by Unsanity. Unfortunately no ICBM version yet. Reverts those horrid Mac OS X labels to Mac OS 9 style.Wednesday, August 23 2006 @ 06:10 AM PDT
Does not create label metadata - spots
I thought I was the only one who got sick enough to throw up when I saw the ugly implementation of the labels. I am glad someone else said it...I have been trying to find something that colors the folder, or the file icons so they can be quickly scanned, or sorted. The labels as they are now implemented overwhelm the screen.
SUBTLE, they are not...
Unfortunately unsanity's "Labels X' does not work with Leopard.

Does not create label metadata - Robin_Landsbert_994
I can VERY easily add the metadata too. BUT, if I do, Mac OS X will then add all the horrid Mac OSX color labeling graphics that you so want to get rid of. Sorry!Reply to This
