"What's the deal with the *nix crowd and their program names?" I've got a suggestion for you, dickhead, when YOU write your own full-featured video decoder and player and release it free to the world, spending tens of thousands of dollars worth of your own time getting it right and then just giving it all away for the good of everyone, when you've done that, you can give it just whatever the hell name you want.

Now, until you've stepped up and done that, why don't you just shut up? I don't have any particular problem comprehending UNIX style names. You seem to have a pretty delicate "Brain OS" so in order to avoid further problems of UNIX program names CRASHING YOUR BRAIN I recommend finding a large enough carboard box, climbing into it, and shutting the lid.

Most of the apps, like this one, that have Unix style names are named as such because they are direct ports off of Unix programs. This is a port of ffmpeg and therefor maintains the name, the X is added to signify it's a mac app.
The program was already named far before it was ported over to our platform, and I'm very thankful that it was, so it wouldn't make much sense to rename it. If it's the X that you don't like, blame Apple for that part.
