I have found InBooklet to be a wonderfully helpful InDesign plug-in for properly structuring booklet hardcopies. However, I have found two areas that could use improvement:
(1) The Preview panel in the InBooklet dialog is not scalable. It would be nice if you could zoom in on the Preview.
(2) There are issues with the 2-up Saddle Stitch setting on certain duplex laser printers such as Xerox. In my tests, the backside print is shifted lower than the inside print (when duplex printing). I tried changing all the various InBooklet settings in vain to try to fix this. So it is possibly an issue with this printer or Xerox printers in general. Nevertheless, it would be VERY helpful if InBooklet could allow compensation for such duplex print shifting by allowing the user to set a "vertical shift" for either the outer or inner print (or both). The way it stands now, InBooklet users must physically shift the InDesign content of the outer print to be higher than the inner print, which fixes the printer problem but messes up the layout when it comes time to export a PDF. Having vertical shift compensation in InBooklet is greatly needed.
I emailed the above to ALAP not long after making my purchase 1 month ago (prior to the 3.0.1 update). They never responded to me, but I do hope their software engineers are taking these points to heart and will implement such in an update sometime soon.

RE: Jason - dylan3--2008
My program, Cheap Impostor, allows for "center-compensation" for fronts of pages and backs of pages. It's certainly not a "proper Imposition" program, like ALAP, but it might be worth checking out.Wednesday, June 01 2005 @ 09:31 AM PDT

RE: Jason - DonColore
All Xerox production printers (not the office Phaser family) have a duplex printing setup per tray. Please contact your local Xerox service rep for maintenance. Thanks
