Interesting they are quite a like. Both were built for the same reason. I wrote my to listen to my MBA homework as I drive into work. One difference is that Listen Later is cross platform. Another is that you can line up several documents to be converted at a time. Lastly you can import PDF files and it will suck the text out and save that to a CD. Also I am planning on adding news in a near release. This way I can listen to the news first on my drive in. Lastly planning on more itunes support to automate some of the moving of files.

When I looked for like programs I could not find any at the time. Doing school and programming (as well as a full time job) it took about 2 months to write and finish.

Books2burn author here. I think b2b was designed to do in some ways just the opposite. Rather than work through a list of texts, b2b was intended to take a long single text (think Gutenberg) and break it into chapters (using size or a regular expression) and spit out each as a separate sound file.
