Word 2004 support?

Feedback Type:  Commentary

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: YES

Once again EndNote has fallen behind. Word 2004 officially came out today. Where is EndNote? have they been caught by surprise again, like they were when Word X came out? Their web site says EndNote 7 is not compatible with Word 2004, but there is no indication if or whether they will come out with a patch.

As others have said, this is a really frustrating product, more so because it's the only game in town.

From the Endnote Web Site:
May 20, 2004

No version of EndNote is compatible with Microsoft Office 2004.

Due to changes introduced by Microsoft in the newly released Office 2004 for Mac OSX, EndNote's Cite While You Write (CWYW) tools are not currently compatible with Word 2004. The tools will not automatically install into Word 2004, and if manually installed they will not function. This is a known incompatibility for which there is no solution.  At this time there are no plans to make EndNote 7 or older versions compatible with Word 2004.

Now there's an updated (May 21) statement at the URL above. It says the next version will be compatable.
