It is hugely disappointing that Microsoft has released a new version of Office for Mac without upgrading Entourage to be a true Exchange client. This makes absolutely no sense at all.
I am slowly converting my workplace (65 machines) over to PC because we are forced to run Outlook 2001 in Classic mode to access Exchange properly and O2001 is a horrible, buggy, crippled mess. We use Exchange for group calendaring and contacts as well as shared info in public folders, none of which Entourage supports properly. We also have many users who have to share accounts, like executives and their assistants which cannot be done in Entourage.
Shame on microsoft for abandoning Outlook on the Mac.

You say it makes no sense yet you admit that you're moving from Macs to PC's. If you're Microsoft, how can that be bad?Wednesday, May 19 2004 @ 11:07 AM PDT

I agree the lack of true MAPI support for the Mac is a real shame. However take a look at ximinian.com. Works really well, just bit of a slog to install. Easiest way is to use Fink Commander (fink.sf.net) and the Exchange server must have the web interface working. The SW runs under Xwindows (I use OroborOSX-v0.9) and you'll need the basic dev tools installed.Wednesday, May 19 2004 @ 11:11 AM PDT

Sure it makes sense...they don't want it to work equally well. That means more macs in offices.Reply to This
