I downloaded GyazMail a couple of days ago and like it very much. I have gotten sick of crashes in Entourage and wanted to try something else, so I tried GyazMail.
It appears to store each email in its own disk file, and there is an index file for each account called MessageIndexArchive.
One thing that concerns me, a lot: if GyazMail crashes, can that index be easily rebuilt? After all, software crashes and computers freeze. Entourage and Quicken have ways of causing their indexes to be rebuilt when it happens. I think it is an essential feature.
I can find no sign of this feature in GyazMail's documentation. I emailed the developer directly yesterday but haven't gotten a response.
So I thought I should post a note here and see if anyone else knows.
This is the only issue that is holding me back from paying for the software and recommending it to others.

Actually I got some feedback from the author of the product, who says that the indexes are automatically reconstructed after a crash!Sunday, June 06 2004 @ 09:13 AM PDT

Heh, getting a reply from the author of this program is a crapshoot at best.Friday, June 18 2004 @ 12:06 AM PDT

FWIW ... I have been a long time user of GM and have crashed on occasion. Perhaps 2 or 3 times in the last year+.I've seen any index corruption ... but who knows?
