How does the automatic expanding text function compare to TypeIt4Me? i've used TypeIt4Me for probably 10 years and it's a great product (I still use it daily), but I could use a good thesaurus (which TypeIt4Me doesn't include).

Spell Catcher vs. TypeIt4Me - WhiteDog
TypeIt4Me is very good. I used it in OS 9 (and before). And I used it in OS X while I was waiting for Spell Catcher to be upgraded (it's not too expensive so I don't regret paying for it, even though I no longer use it). The shortcuts feature in Spell Catcher is comparable to TypeIt4Me, but SC offers many other features in addition to shortcut expansion. Of course, many programs have their own spell checkers now, including Safari (which uses the built-in system spell checker), but Spell Catcher has a much larger dictionary and a thesaurus, so it will often find words that the other checkers do not. It has other capabilities as well; you'll have to decide for yourself if these are of use to you.Friday, June 18 2004 @ 01:01 AM PDT

Re: SpellCatcher vs Typeit4meI've never used typeit4me, but I've been using SpellCatcher consistently since OS 8. I type my own medical chart notes and reports, and I have thousands of shorthands for medical terms in my glossary. It is absolutely fantastic! I waited to upgrade to OS X until there was a version of SpellCatcher for it. I use the thesaurus feature often.
