Used with the iTunes update caused my computer to freaze (apple+option+esc showed itunes, ipod updater and finder as "non responding applications"). ... forced reboot.... restart iTunes - it's updated but even though the iPod is mounted on the desktop it won't recognise it. Undock/redock and the ipod shows up iTunes then wants to update the ipod - say yes and it's back to the top and all the smae problems again. say cancel and all seems OK... one hopes
first run through the update solo (sans iTunes) it says that the ipod has been updated and that you will need to restart th iPod... (by this they don't explain if they mean restart or reset never mind tried both with equal total failure)... restarting the ipod still showed it as running 2.1 but didn't remount. Undocking and redocking the iPod made updater say that the iPod needed the update but clicking update caused the message that it detected a single iPod that wasn't mounted so it couldn't be updated. Repeated undock/redock produced the same message.
Quiting the updater and restarting it simply results in the iPod being unmounted and the updater program having the buttons greyed out. redocking the iPod and - well the iPod thinks it's mounted but and it shows up in system profiler and disktools but it doesn't apear on the desktop nor does the updater recognise it.

How do I know if my iPod was updated or not? I checked the version in Settings>About and it says that its at version 2.2. Is this updated because I thought it was supposed to be at version 3.0. Can someone please help me?Reply to This
