Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 1-6 months

Recommend Product: YES

I originally compared iWork 1.4 to Studiometry 1.1. At that time I felt that Studiometry was the superior product and purchased it. My evaluation was based on using Studiometry's demo, which had a one hour time limit. I know now this demonstration period was not long enough to truly evaluate the program. After purchasing it and really getting into the program, I realized Studiometry had some serious flaws. Namely sloppy integration with Address Book, extremely confusing invoice templates, and overly complex debit/credit features. The final straw was my emails to the developer for support went unanswered.

When iWork 2.0 was released I decided to give it another look and I am glad I did! The interface has been tweaked and things make a lot more sense when compared to version 1.4. It's now much easier to create invoices and estimates. I love the perfect integration with Address Book – no need to click a button to share or sync contacts, it just happens flawlessly. Creating a contact couldn't be easier, just drag an existing contact from Address Book right into the iWork Clients Group and you are in business. Or if you prefer you can use the add client button in iWork which will create a contact in both iWork and Address Book simultaneously.

As a Graphic Designer I really appreciate the ability to assign different tax rates to each task individually. And the integrated job timer is better than many applications designed specifically for this function. I also love the familiar feel iWork shares with Apple branded "i" applications. The developer didn't try to reinvent the wheel which makes learning this application intuitive for anyone already familiar with Apple programs. The interface is very clean and well thought out.

iWork is not without flaws however. It's lacks the ability to automatically alert you of invoices overdue by 30, 60 and 90 days, a feature I found very useful in Studiometry. I think iWork could also benefit from a correspondence tracker which would keep track of letters and emails sent to each client.

Take it from someone who owns both iWork and Studiometry... iWork is the superior program, is cheaper and has far better support.

iWork Vs. Studiometry - sodyPop

i too purchased studiometry and became quickly frustrated and disappointed in it. I found iWork and haven't turned back. This is the best there is for small invoicing and accounting, if quickbooks is way more than you need but word isn't enough, get this app.
