I tried to optimize my Cube directly from the CD, and it didn't manage it - crashed each time. I couldn't create an eDrive without optimizing (so it said). In the end the following worked: I just optimized 'files only' (so it just defragments the files, not the disk), then it managed to create the eDrive. When I then started up from that, and optimized, it all worked perfectly. And despite the crashes, and the need to rebuild various volume directories (that took it an age to do), everything's working fine.
