FMPro Migrator is unusuable on a Mac. First the help is unreadable unless a copy-paste in TextEdit for example; second one reads on that help the necessity to go through VirtualPC for translating a database. It seems taht the producer ignore the fact that an ODBC driver comes with FileMaker.

ODBC Driver - David Simpson
FileMaker has now released an ODBC driver for MacOS X - therefore the migration process to FileMaker 7/8 can now be done entirely on MacOS X without requiring VirtualPC.David Simpson

Actually the main reason for your difficulty is due the the lack of a usable FileMaker ODBC driver for MacOS X. FileMaker 7 includes no ODBC driver for MacOS X, FileMaker 6 includes an ODBC driver which works with Carbon but not Cocoa type applications on MacOS X. As recommended by Apple Developer Guidelines, my application is written for the Cocoa infrastructure of MacOS X. The migration process would be significantly streamlined if a Cocoa compatible FileMaker ODBC driver was available for MacOS X.The documentation is available online within the application, via the web, and is created as a customized text file once you generate migration scripts. There is also PDF documentation available via the website as well, which includes screenshots of the various tasks. Furthermore, customers may call or email with support questions as well.
