Read the novel 1984-in it, Terror was a covert function of the prevailing Government-Terror was done to keep the people in line-afraid; and it made Big Brother and the Party look indespensible-after all, it was "the Enemy" that Big Brother was after. The Party will protect us all from 'the enemy'.
But Winston Smith could not shake the feeling that the enemy was whomever the Party wanted it to be that day. It could change in an instant. Today we were friends with The eastern Bloc-we had always been friends-tomorrow-they were enemies-they had always been 'the enemy'. Im sure this app works just fine. It reminds me of the unthinking "3 Minutes of Hate" practiced by the citizens of Oceania--it keeps the people in fear of a nebulous "Enemy" even if this enemy was trained and funded by the Bush CIA...These "terror" alerts are simple propaganda to make the Party (Bush) look needed and 'necessary'. Hence this app promotes a mouthbreather type of uncritical thinking. THINK, PEOPLE.

You left wing kooks are unbelievable. If they'd done nothing when they heard that there was going to be a dirty bomb detonated in NY harbour you'd have said they were careless. But because they had an alert system so they could ramp up security which cought the terrorists with the dirty bomb, you say they are controlling the people.You accuse Bush of doing nothing to prevent 9/11 when it was Clinton who had numerous chances to stop it. Even the day before, 9/10, Bush sent an ultimatum to the Taliban to hand over bin Laden. They knew he was a threat and unlike their predecessor they were doing something about it. And yet you equate them as big brother. Big brother created Enemies (just like Clinton did). The opposite of Big Brother would fight real enemies until they were defeated. You seem to lack any concept of the fact that peace isn't the absence of war, but absence of threat.
Bush is one of the few world leaders who understands this and is pursuing real peace with every tool he has. I thank God that that spineless whimp Gore didn't win the election (and don't go on about the majority didn't vote for Bush, they didn't vote for Clinton either).
