I am running Panther. With the new Microsoft Office OSX10.1.5, I cannot get Word to open. It opened for 1 day and then quit. I cannot even reinstall Word from my disk. I keep getting "unexpectedly quit." I also tried to reinstall the entire suite from my disk and the installer "unexpectedly quit."
I have also tried reinstalling updates 10.1.2 and 10.1.4. No luck.
Now I have a computer that DOES run Excel, Entourage, and PowerPoint - but no Word.
I am so frustrated. Anyone else in this boat?
Thanks,
Carol

Word will not open - outer
It's a font conflict of some sort. I got around this by eliminating or disabling all duplicate fonts and deleting everything I could find that looked like it had something to do with being a font cache. I never pin-pointed a single culprit, but something I did worked. Word was crashing while attempting to rebuild its font menu.Wednesday, May 19 2004 @ 07:51 AM PDT

Try checking for bad fonts. When a progam opens, it looks at the available fonts to use and if there's a corrupt font, that's all it takes for an app like Word to crash on launch. I had the same problem with Word, used font doctor to identify the offending font, deleted it and I was good to go! good luck! :-)Saturday, June 12 2004 @ 06:48 PM PDT

I've been having the same problem. I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled the whole Office suite and also all the updates, and still no luck, it crashes in the middle of starting up.I'm running a G5, with Dual 2 GHz, 1 GB DDR SDRAM, with a 160 GB HD, so there should be absolutely no problems here.
I may have to break down and call worthless Microsoft tech support. Arg!!
