The installation went fine (I guess), then I rebooted, but now the app fails to launch and just brings up a crash dialog immediately after double-clicking. Repaired permissions -- didn't help. Any other ideas? OS 10.3.3, and all other apps work fine.

Can't even launch it! - DantzTS
From the Dantz KnowlegebaseIf Retrospect crashes when trying to the program, this may be caused by compatibility problems with 3rd party Haxies such as the ones released by Unsanity, LLC.
(In one case, WindowShade has released an update that fixes this problem)
1) If you have Haxies installed, check with the software vendor to see if a newer version exists for your operating system version. (Make sure you are using 10.3 compatible software if you are running 10.3.x
2) Try uninstalling the Haxie and then attempt to launch Retrospect again
