Last week, I tucked a Garmin Gecko 301 into the pocket of my parka and headed for the ski slopes. As a young ski racer, I wanted to know my speeds on different runs to aid in my training program. When I got home, I loaded a topo map of the ski area (from James Associates' Rocky Mountain National Park CDROM) into MacGPS Pro. I connected the Gecko and transferred my tracklogs to the Mac. There were all my runs, right on top of the ski trails indicated on the map! All my locations, the actual times I was there, and the clocked speeds of every section of my runs were recorded and available to me by zooming in on that map. Man, this program is good. I could analyze every run I made that day. What a great addition to my ski training program!
I also do a lot of hiking in the summer months. This program will come in handy to plan my routes. This year I plan to hike into some remote areas that I would hesitate to tackle without my waypoints and routes loaded into my GPS receiver by MacGPS Pro.
I love this program. It has a simple interface and is easy to use. The original price was very reasonable and there is a super policy of providing frequent updates free! Customer support has been outstanding. Way cool MacGPS Pro!

Thanks for the great review--what a cool program/GPS system you have set up. How did you connect it to the mac, incidentally? Is there a USB connection? Thanks! -ToferSaturday, April 10 2004 @ 05:37 PM PDT
