Was perplexed at the "no other applications can be running while this update installs" nonsense. Are these people still writing for system 9?

You have raised an interesting point.

It may appear that the requirement that no other applications be running is legacy code left in the Mindvision InstallerVISE application (the basis for the updater) from bygone days. In fact, the TechTool Pro 4.0.2 updater needs to change some permissions in order to run, and it must ensure that no other application is changing file permissions at the same time.
