and I don't mean that in a good way. I cannot comprehend why Spiderweb continues to make games with that archaic sprite-hopping format when they could use their Geneforge engine instead (a clone of Baldur's Infinity Engine).

CRPG that take you back to Apple ][ days - Eridius

I haven't tried this yet, but basically you're marking it 2 stars simply because it uses the old-fashioned sprite engine? There's nothing wrong with a sprite engine like this. A good game depends on the gameplay much more than the graphics. And while good graphics are nice, for a game like this sprite graphics are perfectly fine.

Note that I haven't actually downloaded and tried this yet, but I have tried their other sprite games. Ahh, Exile III, how I miss thee.

CRPG that take you back to Apple ][ days - Quobobo

Definitely agreed. Spiderweb games may not look great, but Exile 3 is one of my favourite RPGs ever... which is no small task for a company that essentially only has one programmer. Graphics aren't all that matter to a game.

Ir's a turn-based RPG. Either you like the genre or you don't. Trust me, plenty do. There will be many, many scenarios written for this.
