I have 2 iMacs side-by-side. Crowded 2 keyboard/mouse mess. I've looked everywhere for a USB KVM to run both with one keyboard and one mouse -- found nothing affordable for USB or Mac. Teleport does the trick. It took me a while to figure out how to use it as the interface is unique, the use instructions are minimal and what's there is unclear. but once I stumbled onto how it works it's great.
Two suggestions:
1) A controller on the host machine that doesn't hijack System Prefs and require them to remain open.
2) a button on the Teleport Pref Panel to easily "Add Teleport to Startup Items" on the Client machine.
I had to connect a mouse to the Client Machine when restarted it and forgot to manually select Teleport as a Startup Item.
teleport
Control several Macs with the same mouse & keyboard.
Version: 1.0.2

1) what do you mean? teleport does not require sys prefs to be open to function..2) well, teleport automatically registers in the login items when it's activated
