I've been using this tool for a while with PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server and mySQL and it works great with all of them. Also, the developer is extremely responsive to support requests and some of the minor bug reports I've submitted. In fact, I would go as far to say that the support I've received so far goes beyond the call of duty for software which only costs $69 for commercial use.

This is NOT free software, unless you're in education or are just using it for learning purposes, but it's not restricted, so you can potentially use it for free in a commercial environment, but you'd be breaking the licencing agreement and doing nothing to support the development of such great software.

To be honest though, for $69 it more than worth the money. On the Mac there is no better tool. SQLBoss is useless rubbish by comparison. If you only need to work with mySQL, then CocoaMySQL is probably slightly better from an ease of use point of view, but then I still use this tool in combination as for an aid to writing and testing your SQL statements, it's way better.

If you browse the support mailing list archives you can get hold the URLs of some of the latest sub-releases which add some fantastic additional features and better performance over the standard version 3.5 download, so I can only imagine that the next version will be even better and is covered by the licence fee.

If only all developers could produce such great cross-platform Java-based applications as this and support them so well. The fact that it supports so many databases is fantastic, but the fact that it supports them in such a way as to provide proper support for each one, rather than generic JDBC functionality makes it more than worth the entrance fee. It's very stable, fast and aids in productivity immensely, and on the Mac, I don't think I've used a better SQL tool. It works great on Windows too!
