G5 dual 1.8 VLC/Panther audio issue (VOB files)
Feedback Type: Troubleshooting Report

Product Platform: MacOSX
Used Product For: Over One Year
Still unusable on the G5 as stated below:
Switching the audio output in VLC to Analog from Digital does not solve the problem.
I love VLC & have used it for years... the first issue I have ever experienced is with my new G5/dual1.8/OS10.3.2 and VOB files. It opens and plays most formats including AVI files just fine. The problem is with VOB files. When I try to play a VOB file I get the following error,"coreaudio: failed to set buffer size: [nope]". The file keeps playing though, with no audio - After that I have the option to hit the "Dismiss" button-- after pressing it any audio I hear, no matter what application I'm in, comes out as loud screeches and cracks. I have tested this issue with verious VOB file sizes and OS installs. I love VLC media player - If anyone can help me to solve this issue I would greatly appreciate it...
System Info:1.5 gigs ram 2x150 gig/7200 rpm drives in a RAID array.

I think it is actually part Apple's problem too. This is kindof the same as the DVD Player pause/no audo problem. I wouldn't be to worried right now. Digital Audio is fairly new on the hardware, give apple a little time to get some bugs worked out. I have this problem too on my Dual 2.0 G5, it has something to do with the syncing of the two processors and the audio.Reply to This
